Staff Reviews

My favorite poet of all time, I think Audre Lord should be required reading for everyone, everywhere. She has something sharp and incisive to say about every situation when I flip open my worn and totally adored copy of this book. For a good example, check out "But What Can You Teach My Daughter" on page 309.

"These are poems which blaze and pulse on the page."—Adrienne Rich "The first declaration of a black, lesbian feminist identity took place in these poems, and set the terms—beautifully, forcefully—for contemporary multicultural and pluralist debate."—Publishers Weekly "This is an amazing collection of poetry by . . . one of our best contemporary poets. . . .
