Description

Maine's 100 Mile Wilderness is one of the most famous sections of the Appalachian Trail - a 97-mile stretch and the longest section on the AT without a paved road crossing or a town. This guide will include more than forty hikes, capturing the best of the great wilderness. Discover the highest waterfall on the entire Appalachian Trail, remote mountains like Wadleigh, and one of the largest springs in New England. Look inside to find detailed maps, hike descriptions, mile-by-mile directional cues, and much more.

About the Author

Greg Westrich has lived in the woods north of Bangor, Maine since 1996. Greg has visited every state but Hawaii and almost every Canadian province. Don't ask him about hiking unless you have a couple of hours to spare. Hiking Maine's Waterfalls is Greg's seventh guide published by Falcon. His previous FalconGuides include Hiking Maine, Hiking Maine's Baxter State Park, and Hiking New Hampshire. He's also the author of numerous articles and stories, which have appeared in Downeast, Canoe & Kayak, Birding, Bangor Daily News, and many others. Greg's day job is teaching writing and literature at Husson University in Bangor and at Eastern Maine Community College. You can follow Greg's adventures on Facebook or his website, gregwestrich.com. There are videos of many of the hikes in this guide on his Facebook page. He regularly gives slideshows for clubs and libraries around Maine.
