Poetry Open Mic Night - featuring David Dragone

Join us for an evening of poetry readings, live music, and entertainment as David Dragone hosts our first poetry open mic. David is the editor of the Crosswinds Poetry Journal and facilitates poetry workshops across Rhode Island. He'll be following each reading with a few minutes of improvised music on his violin. Light refreshments will be provided. Poets and poetry lovers of all ages, skills, and backgrounds are welcome to this free event!

Dave Dragone knows a secret: natural things stand for other, more intangible human matters. Sunflowers, bees, the ocean, the passing of seasons are all indicators, symbols for parts and pieces of our lives. He also knows the obvious: that this is not a secret at all. Nature has always been a metaphor for what we are inside ourselves. This fact is Primal. This fine collection pays close attention. ~Tom Chandler, Poet Laureate of Rhode Island emeritus

David Dragone’s poetry has appeared in Avocet, Bryant Literary Review, California Quarterly, Common Ground Review, Commonweal, Connecticut River Review, The Main Street Rag, The Providence Journal, Rhode Island Public Radio, Trinity Repertory Theater, and elsewhere along with a previous book, Temperaments (2016). He is a member of The Academy of American Poets, The New England Poetry Club and Ocean State Poets. David also serves as editor of Crosswinds Poetry Journal, an international journal of poetry, and facilitates poetry workshops in libraries and other locations.
